School zone systems

School zone systems consist of at least two signs equipped with built-in Doppler radar. Signs are activated when the approaching vehicle exceeds the threshold speed. They are made in accordance with the most demanding world standard for LED traffic signalization – EN12966, in the highest classes. Signs are designed to be easy to use, maintain, and last long. Our optics are in the highest classes: Luminance L3, Luminance ratio R3, Colour C2, Beam Width B6 or B7, with very low LED current for each color. This ensures high visibility, low consumption, and long LED lifespans.

Signs are delivered with advanced, user-friendly control and diagnostics software for tablets and laptops – Command Console.

School zone system 1

This school zone system uses LED traffic signs with built-in Doppler radar, placed on opposite sides of the street. Signs are in size B – circle diameter 650mm (recommended for city streets and regional roads), fully compatible with the European standard EN12966.

 

 

 

 

Signs used in this system display the speed limit and the actual measured speed of approaching vehicles. When the school is closed, signs show the speed limit of 50 km/h, and when the school is open, they show the speed limit of 30 km/h. A five-year calendar is stored in the sign memory, and each day can be divided into several periods. For example, during the night, weekends, and school breaks, the sign displays a 50 km/h speed limit and the current vehicle speed, while during working days from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m., it changes to a 30 km/h speed limit. If the approaching vehicle drives too fast, the digits will start blinking to warn the driver to slow down.

School zone system 2

This school zone system uses LED traffic signs with built-in Doppler radar, placed on opposite sides of the street. Signs show measured speed and warn drivers who drive unsafely with flashing and police blinkers.

The sign has two threshold speeds that activate it. One is valid during school hours, and the second is valid during the night, weekends, and school breaks. When the approaching vehicle exceeds the threshold speed, the police blinkers are activated.

 

Flashing lights are intended to be displayed only during the most critical periods (when children arrive at school or go home, or when the road is busiest with pedestrians).

So, in normal operation, the sign displays the measured speed, while in critical periods, the flashers are activated.
