Parking solutions

The parking guidance system is designed to inform drivers about the direction of travel toward included parking facilities, as well as the availability of standard parking spaces, designated spaces for persons with disabilities, and charging stations for electric vehicles.

The system consists of software capable of collecting data from various parking systems and forwarding it to the DMV Control Center, which then displays the information on parking signage distributed throughout the city. This system enables urban traffic authorities to collect and distribute real-time information regarding the number of available parking spaces across all city lots, with the ultimate goal of reducing search time and alleviating traffic congestion.

System Components

  • Single Parking Lot Software (SW-SPL) is installed on the computer of each individual parking lot. Existing parking software should put the number of free parking spaces in the .txt file and send it to the DMV Parking Guidance Service periodically.
  • Parking Guidance Service (SW-SER-PAR) processes the data received from each Single Parking Lot Software and automatically sends it to the parking signs in real time.
  • Parking Guidance Signs (TRS-PGS) are placed on the city streets and give drivers information in which  direction are the nearest parking lots and how many free parking spaces are currently available in each of them. Signs must have GPRS or Ethernet communication.
  • City Control Center (SW-CCC) software platform that allows users to see the locations of all parking signs and parking lots that are in the system on a map, to see real-time information on the number of free and occupied parking spaces in all parking lots, to check whether all parking lots are open and whether all the occupancy capacity of each individual parking lot in the previous period…
  • Mobile Application (SW-MPG) through which drivers can check information about the number of free parking spaces in each parking lot in the system.

System Scalability

The system is scalable and user can easily include a new parking lot or add new parking signs to Parking Workshop, as well as upgrade existing signs by adding new parking lots if needed.

These changes can be made without making any change in  software, but only by administration the existing Parking Workgroup (just by adding new parking lots and new signs to the list and configuring how the system should work, i.e., what is displayed and where) and the system will continue to work as before, but with those extra parking lots and signs in Parking Workgroup.

System Management

Management is performed via the Control Center. Upon logging into the Control Center, users are presented with a map showing all their individual parking software and parking signs at precisely defined locations, as well as an icon for the Parking Working Group to which those software units and signs belong. At the Working Group level, the user can view:

  • Occupancy
  • Parking Statistics
  • Device Status (Maintenance)
  • Notifications
