Rooftop VMS

A vehicle roof-mounted VMS system (VRM) is ideal for emergency services, including traffic police, road maintenance, utility, and hazardous materials transport vehicles.

The system consists of a variable message sign and a roof-mounted structure with a linear actuator for lifting and lowering the variable message sign. It is delivered with a user-friendly control and diagnostic application for smartphones/tablets or laptops called Command Console.

Lifting Mechanism

The lifting mechanism is made from a hot galvanized steel base frame and has the following features:

  • Universal mounting on commercially available roof racks
  • Aerodynamic design
  • Automatic electric motor lifting and lowering controlled from the Command Console application

Variable Message Sign

For a vehicle roof-mounted VMS system, DMV can offer different sign models. For this purpose, signs with predefined pictograms or full matrix signs can be used, and customers can choose between models we recommend or design their own model, and DMV will produce it.

 

All our signs have the highest optical classes: Luminance L3, Luminance Ratio R3, Colour C2, Beam Width B6 or B7, with very low current for each color. This enables TRS-VRM to have high visibility, low consumption, and a long lifetime.

Tablet App

Command Console is a user-friendly Android application for monitoring and controlling functions.

The operator can set pictograms or text messages on the VMS and raise or lower the rooftop sign via the rooftop lifting mechanism. Command Console also provides maintenance functions, checking all hardware diagnostic information such as battery status, light sensor function, temperature inside the cabinet, etc.

Control Center

In the control center application, the user can track the GPS locations of their vehicles with these systems installed, see whether the signs are active, and receive notifications and warnings if there is a problem with the device’s operation.

These signs can be connected to our Control Center and monitored and controlled remotely.
